The TUC launched a website on Saturday that, "gives most UK employees the freedom to uncover information about their company including staff pay and pensions compared to directors', profits and losses, shareholder details and arrangements for staff representation."
Apparently, it allows workers to access the details of around 7,000 companies who employ millions of staff. The main reason for the website is so that employees of the 7,000 companies can tell if their pay has kept up with the pay of directors over the past five years. A more general reason to consult the database is so that workers, "can also compare their own pay to others doing the same job at different firms."
The TUC press release for the new website can be accessed at - TUC website gives most UK employees freedom of their company information. The database can be tried out here.
